The Lundin family have been involved in oil exploration and production for over thirty years. Lundin Petroleum can trace its roots back to the early eighties in the form of International Petroleum, then International Petroleum Corporation (IPC), followed by Lundin Oil in the late nineties before emerging as Lundin Petroleum in 2001.

The company's assets are focused upon two core areas, Norway and South East Asia. Lundin Petroleum has a history of generating shareholder value through exploration success and also has the resources to take exploration successes through to the production phase. In 2010 Lundin Petroleum was responsible for one of the largest discoveries ever made in Norway - The Johan Sverdrup field.
